Why the CCAD Fashion Show ROCKED.

This past Friday, I had the opportunity to attend the 2015 CCAD Fashion Show AKA the best fashion show in Columbus.

ccad-fashion-show-2015-columbus-ohioLet me start by sharing that 100% of the proceeds go to the Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD), including funding for student scholarships which basically aides the artistic talent in our city.

ccad-fashion-show-2015-columbus-ohioThe energy and excitement was on another level. I knew it was going to be an outstanding event when I saw the large runway and then spotted local celebrity Mayor Coleman (see if you can spot him, below) being led to his front row seat. Oh, and the music was really amazing too.

ccad-fashion-show-2015-columbus-ohioThe designers and their designs were fabulous. I was highly impressed that these 21 students have the time to design and make an entire collection on top of taking a full-time class schedule.

ccad-fashion-show-2015-columbus-ohioI was positive that CCAD hired models out through an agency of some sort, judging by their looks and professionalism. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that all of the models are CCAD students that have had a bit of training after casting. Well done, CCAD!

ccad-fashion-show-2015-columbus-ohioSome of my favorite collections were by Cassidy Overmeyer, Abigail Staley, and Caroll Jeanne Kern. Linh Tran’s collection was memorable with bright colors and “was inspired by a town in Mexico.” I also loved Derek Fergusson who described his collection as a “modern day Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”

The audience’s fashion was on point. I felt like I constantly wanted to ask other women who made their ensemble. Oh and I was even asked a time or two, which I obviously found super flattering. I need to also mention the after party was on point – a chic + stylish event all in itself, complete with swanky lighting, excellent food and drinks, and a catchy DJ.

A fabulous night of fashion. If you’ve never been to the CCAD Fashion Show or any fashion show really… and you love fashion… I highly suggest you look into going next year! You won’t regret it!

Thank you sweet friends for your messages after my Thank you sweet friends for your messages after my stories last night. 🤍 I think right now what is so worrisome is all of the neurological symptoms that are coming from this virus... loss of taste & smell, smelling smoke/disgusting smells, and dizziness. There are waves of good hours and waves of bad and every morning I wake up with new symptoms. Again, I have a few upcoming scheduled posts + I may give updates on symptoms but that’s about it on here. I can’t believe Covid finally hit our house... and we were so close to getting the vaccine. 😫

🤍 It's time to refresh our towels + bedding for the New Year! After heading to @meijerstores, I picked up fresh white towels, pretty patterned sheets + pillowcases, and a classic, crisp white quilt. 🥰 To keep everything tidy, I added in some woven baskets + wire bins. I layered in greenery 🌱 for natural elements as well as pretty + functional cleaners, a gorgeous candle, and a sign with personality! How do you keep your bath and bedroom linens organized? #Meijer #NewYear #Organization
Our January #bookshelfie 🤍 Clean, fresh, + simp Our January #bookshelfie 🤍 Clean, fresh, + simple. // I’ve been absent on social this week, actually really since the change of the New Year. This was intentional & planned before what happened this week. Just because I’ve been silent on here doesn’t mean I haven’t been speaking out in real life. I chose to listen on here, quite a lost art that I’m personally working on improving this year. 🤍 I’ll leave you with this: The other day, Ava and I were reading Parker Looks Up, one of the books we’re reading this month. 📖 She looked at me and said, “I love her skin Mommy. Isn’t it pretty?” Yes, my dear it is. ❤️
