Last weekend, we celebrated Ava’s 5th Birthday by hosting a quaint but festive unicorn birthday party!
The party evolved from a JoJo Siwa theme, originally, to a unicorn theme, hence the resulting color scheme and disco balls! 🙂 I’ve come to the conclusion that disco balls make any party or theme even more festive and may become a mainstay for future events over here! I have slowly accumulated these disco balls and most of them are from Amazon.

We’re always down for a rainbow-esque theme over here, so I was happy Ava decided on a unicorn birthday party after changing her mind about JoJo. ps – I’ve let the girls choose every birthday party theme once they have turned 2. Makes it way more fun that way! For Ava, we’ve had “Sprinkles,” Rainbow, Frozen, and now Unicorns!
I ordered the cake from our local grocery store for $16. I just asked for a 2-layered, 8 inch round cake. They did white on top and chocolate on the bottom, with vanilla icing. I decorated it with the sprinkles I had at home, including these gold stars.
While I’m all about supporting local bakeries, this year an expensive cake just wasn’t in the budget. Plus, I wanted the cake topper from Fancy Free Finery to take center stage. Don’t you just love the beautiful details on this colorful cake topper?!
Can we talk about this gorgeous party backdrop from Glam Fete? Bri is so talented, my goodness. She has the prettiest backdrops for any theme you could think of and you can even customize your colors.
This backdrop is so gorgeous in person, I couldn’t bare to pack it away after the unicorn party, so I hung it up in our playroom! 🙂 I layered a sparkly silver star garland over the backdrop to add even more texture.
The “5” balloon, confetti balloons, mylar balloons, and all came from the most adorable party shop, Ellie and Piper. Another shop I love is Shop Sweet Lulu – I got the large “5” balloon and the sparkler candle (which was so cool) from there.
We gave Ava a really cute + personalized “5” necklace from Jersie Louise Handmade, a fun shop local to Ohio.
I added Zoe, the rainbow unicorn from Cuddle + Kind for a little whimsy. Pretty much everything else came from Amazon. I’ve linked everything at the very bottom of this post. 🙂
