Hi all! If you follow me on IG, you may know that we recently moved! I was so sad to leave our FIRST HOME we ever bought but after being in our new home for a couple of weeks now, I have more faith than ever that we can make our new space feel even more “ours” than our last!
Nic, our family, friends, and I made our old home just the way we wanted it to be (for the most part) by renovating it before we moved in, 5 years ago!
It’s time I share the details on what exactly we did and you’ll find me sharing each room, including before and after photos, over these next few weeks!
Starting with one of my favorite rooms in this home… the playroom!
As you can see in the photos… we spruced it up a bit & it was honestly pretty simple!
We painted the ceilings white and the walls Moonshine by Benjamin Moore, a perfectly light grey color that is ideal for your entire home, which is exactly what we used!
Next, we sanded and painted the window trim as well as the staircase a bright white, specifically, Decorator’s White by Benjamin Moore. While this took a bit of persistence and patience, it was well worth it! We couldn’t get over how much painting the trim can do to update a home! We also opted to completely replace the baseboard as it had seen its day and replaced it with something a little thicker.
Next, we added this very inexpensive curtain rod and these white drapes and got rid of the wooden blinds.
We didn’t need to replace our carpet, thank goodness! It was in great shape. You can see in the photos just how much painting the walls white changed the carpet color as well.
With a playroom, there’s naturally a lot to look at and while I have gone for a more “organized” look before with this room, this is honestly a good look at how it always looked (of course, picked up/decluttered). I think by having most of the toys for the girls to see, instead of packed away in drawers and boxes, allowed for them to play the longest in here.
And trust me when I say we played A TON in this room! It was such a happy space upstairs in our loft that got the BEST afternoon light. The entire room just lit up, making it the sweetest spot for quality time with the girls after dinner.
I made the star of the playroom the “Play All Day” sign that I found at Hobby Lobby made by The Handmade Home. I instantly knew I HAD TO HAVE that piece of art for this space as the colors were perfect and it tied everything together.
I also hung the geometric wall cubes and this flag banner for visual interest.
I adore these floating bookshelves and kept our books rotating seasonally on them.
Some of our favorite pretend play toys in this space are our play kitchen (I know it’s pricey but we got ours on major sale…. also, here’s a very similar one for 1/5 of the price and I also love this one that’s much cheaper & comes in a few color options), washer/dryer combo, this doll baby bed, these cleaning supplies, this dress-up station, and shopping cart!

What a beautiful room, for sure!
