Warm weather always inspires me to move forward with all of those home improvement plans I’ve been planning all winter long! You know what I’m talking about, right? Inspired by the beautiful M/I Homes Bigham Ridge model home, the following are some fun ways to refresh your space this season and seasons to come:
^^ 1. Update your kitchen lighting! A relatively inexpensive fix (that we actually did a few months ago) that can immediately make a major improvement!
^^ 2. Organize your mudroom (kind of)! Who am I kidding? This space is typically a mess, right? Hooks and baskets can at least make it look semi-organized! 🙂
^^ 3. Install beautiful sliding barn doors! All over Pinterest for a good reason, they can save space and let’s be honest – they’re just pretty.
^^ 4. Add a pop of texture, pattern, and/or color to your neutrals. Easy fix that you could update for the seasons.
^^ 5. Save space and mount the TV above the fireplace. Practical and gorgeous.
^^ 6. Natural light: Let it in! Get rid of the blinds – you’ll instantly become happier with more light pouring in your home.
^^ 7. Add contrast. Paint your staircase black and white. We did this when we first moved in to our house and it’s always the #1 thing that people comment on when they come in. Best re-modeling decision we made!
^^ 8. Add a monogram to a gallery wall. First name or last name, bedroom or living room, it doesn’t matter, monograms are always a good idea!
^^ 9. Add humor, especially in the kids’ rooms! You can find the cutest prints on Etsy.
^^ 10. Add color contrast with closet space. Use a complementary color to tie it in to the rest of the space.
^^ 11. Add elements of literacy in kids’ rooms, especially! Comic books above the bed, why not? Sayings on the wall, sure!
^^ 12. Get creative! Use toolbox as a nightstand. Add decals on the ceiling!
^^ 13. Mix and match patterns in the same color scheme. It adds interest.
^^ 14. Keep it neutral in the bathroom and add a glass doorless shower. It feels so luxurious.
^^ 15. If you’re a fan of Chip & Joanna, you know it’s all about the look of white shiplap right now! I LOVE this look.
^^ 16. Mix metals, wood, and fabrics for texture.
^^ 17. Take those curtain rods to the ceiling to make your window and overall room space appear bigger!
^^ 18. Extra space at the end of your bed? Accentuate your space with a functional sofa at the end!
^^ 19. Accent lighting on the ceiling can really invigorate and brighten a space.
^^ 20. Keep it symmetrical! I love the look of two nightstands and lamps in the bedroom.
^^ 21. Double up: Instead of mounting a single picture on the wall, stack the look with two pictures, which draws the eye up vertically.
^^ 22. Add storage and counter space to the laundry room! Because we all need more of that in this room.
What are some of your favorite ways to refresh your home?
