A couple of weekends ago, my lil’ family and I ventured to The Gateway for some lunch, treats, and shopping. This quaint area, located one block off North High Street between 9th and 11th Streets, is not just for the college kids these days – there are many great places to eat, shop, and work out. You may know it for the Gateway Film Center and/or the Barnes & Noble that are located there.
We started our day with lunch at FUSIAN, a casual + affordable sushi spot in which you are able to craft your own rolls. Nic and I’s shrimp tempura/salmon rolls with asparagus, avocado, and cream cheese were so yummy – both complete with a side of edamame and lavender lemonade.
Next stop was Berry Blendz – a favorite stop of mine in The Gateway for years – they make awesome smoothies and juices. My favorite is Choco-o-Nutter – made with almond milk, chocolate, banana, peanut butter, and frozen yogurt. It’s like dessert it’s so good and such a treat!
Afterwards, we crossed the street to check out where World of Beer is now since we hadn’t been since they’d opened. While we didn’t stop there, we loved, loved, loved their patio and will be back when the little one is not with us. 🙂
Of course, we also reminisced a bit about a few dinners we’ve had on the patio at Mad Mex along the way. There’s an awesome Beer Garden just outside of Mad Mex that looks like it would be so fun on a warm spring/summer day!
Last stop: Pitaya. Nic sat this one out but I’m always down for a quick peruse through this cute apparel/accessories shop.
Some other places at The Gateway worth checking out are Yoga Six and Pizza Rev. You also can find a list of Gateway specials here.
