This past Sunday evening, Nic and I bundled up and ventured to the 13th Annual Village Lights presented by Schmidt’s Sausage in German Village. If you’ve never been, I suggest you put it on your priority list for next December as it is an event that truly ignites the holiday spirit.
German Village sidewalks are lined with luminaries and carolers. Shops and restaurants open their doors with treats like hot chocolate and cookies and offer discounts.
Bands such as the Columbus Saints add to the ambiance by playing holiday music while you shop. Lots of goodies along with delicious food finds can be found at the centralized market, Striezelmarkt. Have your photo taken with Santa… it’s too fun not to.
Stop in St. Mary’s to warm up and and listen to the bell choir.
Stroll the neighborhood for holiday decorating inspiration at its finest. Get lost in the brilliant smell of pine at St. Mary’s Christmas Tree Sale.
Have dinner at the German Village classic, Schmidt’s Sausage Haus. Don’t leave without having some fudge from their neighboring Fudge Haus.
And a personal favorite this year, Lindey’s patio is pure magic: Cocktails, hot chocolate, music, a plethora of lights, and the smell of firewood make you want to cozy up there for the entire night.
Experience the magic that is Village Lights.
