This past weekend, the husband and I ventured to Dublin to run a few errands (and I have to mention – an amazing lunch at 101 Beer Kitchen was had – definitely check out this spot if you haven’t before!) and we had time for quick stop at Hayden Run Falls Park.
The park is a hidden lil’ gem, just west of the Scioto River off of Hayden Run Road. A part of the Griggs Reservoir Park, it takes only a few minutes to hike to the falls once out of your car.
I did a bit of research and learned that the trail was not always a nice, safe boardwalk and before 2006, the hike actually involved quite a steep, nearly treacherous hill to make it to the falls – they have since installed stairs.
Once you reach the bottom of the stairs, there’s a nice glimpse of the Scioto to your left.
After a super short walk, we reached the falls! It hadn’t rained for a few days before our hike, so the 25 ft. falls were smaller than some of the photos I had seen of them before.
Nonetheless, it’s hard to believe these falls are in the middle of Dublin!
A cool spot to take the kiddos, to just get a breath of fresh air, or to take some fun photos.
I never knew this existed! I can’t wait to check it out!
Whenever we get out-of-town visitors, we always take them there.
Unfortunately, early spring, after the snow melts, is the best time for the water flow, but it’s usually rather cold still then. And even with the stairs, it can be a difficult time for anyone who isn’t in decent shape. It’s definitely worth a trip, though!
I went there today for the first time. With all the rain we’ve had in the last week the falls have grown to be about 3 times the size!
We went there last year.
I bet it’s pretty impressive right now with all of the rain we have had lately!
