This past weekend, the husband and I ventured to Dublin to run a few errands (and I have to mention – an amazing lunch at 101 Beer Kitchen was had – definitely check out this spot if you haven’t before!) and we had time for quick stop at Hayden Run Falls Park.
The park is a hidden lil’ gem, just west of the Scioto River off of Hayden Run Road. A part of the Griggs Reservoir Park, it takes only a few minutes to hike to the falls once out of your car.
I did a bit of research and learned that the trail was not always a nice, safe boardwalk and before 2006, the hike actually involved quite a steep, nearly treacherous hill to make it to the falls – they have since installed stairs.
Once you reach the bottom of the stairs, there’s a nice glimpse of the Scioto to your left.
After a super short walk, we reached the falls! It hadn’t rained for a few days before our hike, so the 25 ft. falls were smaller than some of the photos I had seen of them before.
Nonetheless, it’s hard to believe these falls are in the middle of Dublin!
A cool spot to take the kiddos, to just get a breath of fresh air, or to take some fun photos.

Whenever we get out-of-town visitors, we always take them there. 🙂 Unfortunately, early spring, after the snow melts, is the best time for the water flow, but it’s usually rather cold still then. And even with the stairs, it can be a difficult time for anyone who isn’t in decent shape. It’s definitely worth a trip, though!

I went there today for the first time. With all the rain we’ve had in the last week the falls have grown to be about 3 times the size!

We went there last year. 🙂 I bet it’s pretty impressive right now with all of the rain we have had lately!
