Just like last year, I thought it would be fun to share our favorite Back to School children’s books! Each holiday, I like to display our themed books in our playroom to help get the girls excited… and then, of course, they move into the girls’ rooms because we read every night before bed.
To add a bit of decor + dress up our floating book shelves, I snagged this pencil garland last year and plan to use it every year around this time! I’ll also take it to school once school actually really starts to help decorate my classroom! 🙂
Our Favorite Back to School Children’s Books
We’ve added a few more books to this shelf since last year + I even found some awesome titles at our local library:
THE CRAYON MAN – This may make Ava’s all-time fave books list! She picks it every night if we let her! It shares the history of how crayons were invented. This year, she keeps asking if this book is a real story… it is!
ON THE FIRST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN – A sweet story about going to Kindergarten, this story is written to the tune of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” so feel free to break out your singing voice! 🙂
WE DON’T EAT OUR CLASSMATES – This one is a fave in our house! It tells the story of a dinosaur that goes to school with humans. He has to learn how to make friends and it’s so cute!
OUR CLASS IS A FAMILY – This book is all about how a classroom is like a family. The perfect read for this the first week of school.
S IS FOR SCHOOL – I can’t get over the illustrations in this book – they are GORGEOUS. We like to memorize what each letter stands for in our house.
More Back to School Book Favorites
MERMAID SCHOOL – This sweet read has a catchy tune and shares the story of what happens in Mermaid School.
SCHOOL’S FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL – I found this one at our local library and was thrilled because it’s been on my Amazon wishlist for awhile! Anyways, this story is sooo cute – it’s not about the students’ first day, it’s all about how the school feels – I’m thinking about still buying it for future years’ use!
CHRYSANTHEMUM – A story about a little girl that goes to school and is made fun of because she was named after a flower. Through the story though, the little girl grows to love her name as do the others that originally made fun of her.
OH, THE PLACES YOU’LL GO – Need I say more about this Dr. Seuss classic? Inspiring and uplifting for the start of a school year.
BE KIND – Ava and I have loved reading this book for a couple of years now. The story talks about how a little girl was sad because she spilled grape juice on herself at school. Then, the story shares many examples of what it means to be kind. It’s a very endearing story and one of our absolute faves.
THE WORLD NEEDS WHO YOU WERE MADE TO BE – This story by Joanna Gaines is inspiring and teaches us all that we should all celebrate our differences.
Those are just some of our faves! What are some of your favorite children’s books for Back to School time? Leave them in the comments, below! 🙂
