I want to check in with you all to share a little bit about how life is going! One thing’s for sure: Living with a nearly 7 month-old and a 2.5 year old is never dull! While Ellie is starting to sleep longer stretches during the night, she still does not sleep completely through! At this point, I am pretty sure my body is used to it. To help with this constant state of sleep deprivation and to give myself some necessary self-care, there are a few things that I absolutely NEED to do for myself every morning.First and foremost, I do not look at my phone until after I’ve had my breakfast! I don’t know what it is, but it just feels like too much to look at it when I first wake up. Next, I have to have a solid, protein-packed breakfast, one that’s going to fill me up and not allow my blood sugar to crash mid-morning.
While I eat my breakfast, I wake up while reading a few blogs that I love. Next, and this is something that I really look forward to, is my hot, delicious cup of coffee. Sometimes I drink coffee black and other times I like cream and sugar, which feels like such a treat these days. Also, I have to have my breakfast and coffee before I’m ready to socialize with anyone! 🙂
I missed having a full cup of coffee so much while I was pregnant (I cut back to 1/4 of a cup during that time, just like I did during my first pregnancy). Enjoying that morning cup is ultimately a moment of self-care in a very busy day!
Recently, I’ve been very happy to have discovered Arbor Day Coffee. Have you guys tried this brand yet? It’s truly some of the smoothest, tastiest coffee I’ve EVER had! It made sense when I learned they grow their coffee beans in the rain forest, which results in a richer and fuller taste than other sun-grown coffees out there. SO COOL. You can learn more about Arbor Day Coffee here and you can explore Arbor Day’s coffee selection here!
I’ve partnered with Arbor Day Coffee to giveaway 12 (YES, 12!!!) of their coffees, valued at over $93, to one of you! To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment on this blog post and then confirm you left the comment via the widget, below. The confirmation will serve as your entry to the giveaway!
Also, you can use code GIRLABOUTCOLUMBUS for 10% off of your online order, valid through Dec 31, 2018 🙂 After I have my cup of coffee, if it’s during the week, I get dressed, do my hair, and put my makeup on. I usually feel decently rushed doing all of these things but, I’d rather spend my time waking up while reading, eating, and drinking my coffee. It helps set my mindset for the day. I’ve been like this for as long as I can remember!Next, my husband and I wake up the girls, get them ready, and I drop them off. Last, I typically listen to a podcast or two while on the way to work. This is what works for me! What’s your morning routine look like? Do you need a morning routine or can you just wake up and go?

Good Morning Amanda,
Love your am routine!! And a Good cup of coffee!
I drank tea for years with sweet and low and milk. So when I started drinking coffee, I had the kids and decided it was easiest to just drink it Black !!!
I love discovering new coffees. What a great giveaway, thanks!
Coffee is an integral part of my morning too. If I dont have it, for whatever reason, my whole morning is thrown off.
Thanks for the coffee suggestion! Can’t wait to try it!!
I love a good cup of coffee in the morning, too!!
My husband and I are the same way – we always start the day with good, strong coffee and reading or watching news. It definitely helps set the mood for the day before things get crazy!
As a new mom I am not sure how I would function without my coffee. I would love to try this.
We’re the same way! Starting the day with news and good coffee is essential… even better if the 8-month-old is still asleep during that time! 😉
We had some great rainforest coffee last time we were in Costa Rica, it really is sooo smooth! I miss coffee, I’m in my last month before the baby arrives and looking forward to that first cuppa real coffee!
Would love to try Arbor Day coffee… especially with our second child on the way. Due in just 10 weeks!
Coffee is my staple right now!! This looks amazing!!!
Love a big cup of coffee each morning, especially trying new kinds of coffee 🙂
Would love to try Arbor Day coffee. I have one cup per day right now, but as soon as baby #2 arrives in January, I am sure I’ll be drinking a lot more!
I’ve never tried this brand, but I LOVE coffee, so !
It’s best not to do any hard things before I’ve had my coffee 🙂
I don’t drink coffee but my boyfriend does and I would love to surprise him with this!
I love the idea of rainforest coffee!
I always get up a half an hour earlier than I really need to so I can enjoy my breakfast and a book. If I oversleep and don’t get my morning quiet time I feel like my whole day is off. I’m due with our 2nd baby in April and I’m hoping my taste for coffee comes back then.
Love this giveaway idea! And that Arbor coffee co is good for the environment too…! Very neat, thank you for sharing.
I love black coffee as well! Have you ever tried putting a little cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice in with the grounds!? Perfect for fall ☕️
I’ve always wished to be a routine gal, but I just never seem to grasp a routine when life is constantly changing. With a 18 month old, my days could start at 6:30 or 8:30 depending on how she sleeps which has totally thrown me for a loop! I do my best to sneak past her door for my morning brew (coffee first ALWAYS!) then some breakfast if I get the chance, but it is almost like she knows I’m considering having some special time without her, ultimately putting us at the breakfast table together instead. I love spending my days with the little nugget, but I certainly feel like we are frazzled each and every morning because of this.
Thanks for sharing your experience, it has made me want to at least try to create a more structured morning for myself.
Love the giveaway idea, thanks for the opportunity!
