This past weekend, we bopped on over to Kings Island, one of my favorite amusement parks, to meet up with my brother and future sister-in-law for a bit of fun in the sun. To be honest, I wasn’t quite sure how much fun lil’ Ava was going to have on the trip but she actually had a blast! Obviously, it was her first time there but it surely won’t be her last! It was fun experiencing the park from a bit more of a kid’s view than I have in years past!
First stop was Soak City — the absolute best part of the park for kiddos (and maybe even adults!), in my opinion! They have 36 water slides and tons of activities. My husband and Ava have a thing for splashing around in the water lately and Soak City was no exception. They jumped right in the kiddie pool and Ava had a blast! Such an amazing water park and we can’t wait to go back with her.
Afterwards, Ava took a lil’ snooze but we took over the kid role and checked out the petting zoo. My future sis-in-law definitely wanted to take home one of those alpacas – such cutie pies!
We cruised through Planet Snoopy, making sure to take note of the rides and shows Ava may be interested in next summer. We couldn’t help but get our picture with Lucy van Pelt, just one of the Peanuts characters available for a photo op. And don’t worry – Ava was only out in the sun for 5 seconds while taking this pic 🙂
Next stop: Lunch at Skyline Chili. Delicious Cincinnati-style chili cheese dogs. Yum. We couldn’t resist sitting outside in the 75 degree weather by the fountains – it was such a gorgeous day!
Afterwards, we grabbed some blueberry ice cream – an absolute must while at Kings Island! I usually am a chocolate-only gal when it comes to ice cream, but that blueberry is as tasty as it is pretty! 🙂 While we didn’t ride the famous Banshee roller coaster — the world’s longest inverted roller coaster — the rest of the crew (minus Ava and I) rode Diamondback — which boasts an awesome splashdown. You can learn more about Kings Island’s roller coasters here.
We already are looking forward to our next visit to Kings Island as there truly is something for every member of the family there!
If you’re looking to make a weekend or even longer of a trip of it, Kings Island is just outside of Cincinnati and there are a ton of things to do in the area. You can buy tickets to Kings Island here and they also have awesome season pass benefits too!

One of my friends was just telling me about the soft serve blueberry ice cream! I’ve never had it before (I’ve actually only been to King’s Island once, I grew up closer to Cedar Point). Next time I make it to King’s Island I’ll have to give it a try. It sounds like you had a great weekend!
