My Go-To Skincare Routine + a Giveaway

Winter is here and that means it’s time to to take extra special care of our skin. I’m a bit of a product junkie when it comes to skincare and makeup products and have tried nearly everything under the sun. Here is what I use on a daily basis:

Go-To Skincare Routine // girl about columbus

Clarisonic Mia 2 Sonic Cleaning System: I don’t know why I waited so long to get one of these… well, I do, because it is a luxury item that I was SO happy to receive as a Christmas gift from my husband this year. But, the Clarisonic is the real deal in terms of an exfoliator and cleanser. I use this 2-3x’s per week and adore how clean and refreshed it makes my skin feel. There’s nothing like it.

Mary Kay Botanical Effects Cleanser: I’ve been using this gentle cleanser every night for weeks now and especially after I use it with my Clarisonic, my skin feels so fresh and soft. It’s formulated with antioxidants and is a super affordable face wash. Love it so far!

Borghese Fango Purifying Mud Mask: Hello, awesome Birchbox sample! I’m addicted to Birchbox and it totally satisfies my inner product junkie every month. I love discovering new products and this face mask is just the prettiest navy color when you put it on. It smells amazing and leaves my skin looking so fab once its 5 minute set-time is up. I also use the famous Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay (it’s under $7!) and LOVE it. There’s a reason why people are obsessed with this super affordable mask and you’ve never tried it, I suggest you do ASAP. I use a face mask once a week and swear it does wonders.

Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado: I’ve tried a lot of creams that make my under eye area irritated, red, and dry. Not fun. A little goes on a long way (I think it will last forever) with this cute lil’ pot of eye cream from one of my favorite skincare companies, ever, Kiehl’s. My under-eye area is now much more hydrated and smooth after dabbing it on every night before bed.

Philosophy Ultimate Miracle Worker Night: Honestly, I like to switch up my moisturizer and that’s just how it’s been for awhile! If I had it my way, I could use nothing but La Mer cream as I’ve had a million samples of it and nothing has compared to the way it makes my skin feel and look the next morning. But, since the stuff is outrageously priced, I have to have close seconds and this night cream is amazing as well. No breakouts and it brightens and smooths my skin big-time! I love that it’s both a serum and a cream and my sample is almost out!

The Honest Company Face + Body Lotion: I’ve been using this lotion all throughout my preganancy as I know it’s super safe with minimal chemicals. It’s light and spreads well plus it doesn’t have much of a scent, which I appreciate. To avoid stretch marks, I’ve also been using Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter on my belly/back for even more hydration.

Vaseline: An absolute workhorse in my beauty arsenal. I’ve been using Vaseline for years and probably apply it 20 times per day, especially when I’m at home. I can’t go to bed without this stuff on my lips. A classic.

L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream: I’ve been using this hand cream for years now. I love the smell and it feels light but thick at the same time. I use this every night before I go to bed on my hands – can’t go to sleep without it! It especially helps keep my skin hydrated during the crazy Ohio winter months. I also have been alternating this cream with a cult favorite, Weleda Skin Food, after I found it on maaajor sale at Target. This stuff is super creamy and thick.

Kate Somerville Exfolikate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment: I have been using small sample of this exfoliator straight from the counter at Nordstrom at Easton – it’s really awesome. It doesn’t irritate my skin at all like some exfoliators do! It’s gentle but effective. I honestly think my skin loves this stuff – it always reveals newer + brighter skin after each use. Plus, I use this stuff before applying self tanner, mentioned below, for an even + natural looking glow.

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads for Face: The absolute BEST self-tanner I found for my face + neck – I can’t rave about these things enough! Just exfoliate and then use one of these “tan wipes” on your face, neck, and decolletage in the evening before bed – or you could even do it in the morning, as I feel the glow is pretty instant. I’ve had so many people comment on my “tan”! These glow pads create such a natural looking, dark tan. An amazing product and also an inspiration to stay out of the sun. I also must add I use Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel on my body when I want that extra glow on my arms and legs.
