When I discovered Rachel’s Instagram, I knew I had to feature her photos and Columbus faves on gac. She takes the most beautiful photos – I chose to primarily feature her snaps of Columbus but you should definitely check her out because she has captured some beautiful moments in those lil’ Instagram squares – weddings, portraits, landscapes, food, travel photos (hello, Amsterdam). I enjoy all of her answers about Columbus below and I have to say that her free day in Columbus sounds amazing!

Coffee shop? Any thing that’s local. Mission, One Line, Cup O Joe, Luck Bros.
Concert Venue? Iuka House.
Park? My friends and I had a nice time running through the fountains at the Scioto Mile last summer, while we were on a Heels On Wheels ride. Afterwards we rode to the Grass Skirt Tiki Room for drinks… soaking wet! (search through old instagrams to find the pretty sunset-y pic!)
Brunch? My fiance is a foodie. This question comes up a lot. I’d have to say it’s a tie between Katalina’s, Skillet and Tasi although Northstar is my tried and true favorite brunch I think.
Girls’ Night? Somewhere for Indian food and then the Dollar Theater!
Date Night? Our favorite date meal was when we went to Alana’s. We’re itching to go back soon!
Bakery? Pistacia Vera.
Dessert? Jeni’s.
Area of Columbus? I like it all. I’ve got a lot of friends in Clintonville and Short North but Adam (my fiance) lives in Olde Towne East and I really like that area. Now that it’s on my mind, I change my mind and the very best brunch spot ever is The Angry Baker (vegan/gluten free pancakes. ah-mazing!)
Hidden gem? There are so many. I’d have to say all of the ethnic restaurants, they don’t cost a lot of money and you can get such diverse flavors. I really miss that when I’m away. You can find a lot of great ones in the North Market! Also happy hours… everywhere. Learn your stuff, work around those.
Clothes Shop? Columbus has great thrift stores!!!
Shoes/Accessories/Jewelry Shop? Wholly Craft. I like the handmade stuff, I got a cool map necklace there and found some great bowties for Adam.
Free day in Columbus. What do you do? Let’s say it’s a Saturday. Visit Sharon at Impero for some whiskey french toast and lattes. Walk around the Short North, window shop. Make a candle at The Candle Lab. Stop in On Paper and buy a cool letterpressed card to snailmail someone. Meet a bunch of friends at Goodale for an afternoon picnic. Flip a coin to narrow down the many great restaurants I mentioned for dinner and then end at Brothers Drake to see friends playing live music on their cozy stage.
Rachel is my local girl crush! Great post
Love Katalina’s. Going to have to try the other brunch suggestions!
