Columbus, Ohio Kayaking

Columbus Ohio Kayaking | Girl About Columbus

Kayaking on the Scioto River next to downtown Columbus has been, by far, one of my favorite things I’ve done this summer! We dropped our kayaks in the Scioto at the dock by North Bank Park.

The boys decided to fish while kayaking and my brother caught a huge catfish within the first five minutes of being on the water. We cruised along for the next couple of hours, enjoying the cityscape views around us. Such a relaxing, unique, and beautiful way to take in the great city of Columbus. I highly recommend seeing the city from this angle.

I wish we could continue to kayak downtown well into fall and next spring and summer, however, the river will be closed to boating, beginning this fall, for approximately the two years due to a 35.5 million dollar project to remove the Main Street dam and return the river to its more natural state. The project will make the water flow more constricted and in the future, this will allow for a better river to partake in water activities such as fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. By making the river narrower, more greenspace will be next to the water, also allowing for more parks and bike trails. Read more about these projects from the Columbus Dispatch articles here and here.

Hoppy Easter! 🐰🌷 This was how the day starte Hoppy Easter! 🐰🌷 This was how the day started but certainly not how it ended 😆! E A S T E R 🐰 is getting sooo close! 🌷 remem E A S T E R 🐰 is getting sooo close! 🌷 remember a few weeks ago when I showed you guys some things I was going to gift the girls for Easter? Well, I’ve decided since Ellie’s bday is so close to the holiday this year, I’m splitting up the goodies, gifting half on her bday & half on Easter. Less is more this year! We just don’t need all the STUFF. Mamas, you know what I saying here right?? 🤍🤍🤍 also found those cute baskets on @etsy ... I’ll link them but found them bc of @themamanotes ! I can’t take credit for this find but they sure are CUTE!
What are your fave shops for bday party supplies? What are your fave shops for bday party supplies? ✨ My go-to shops are: @glamfete @ellieandpiperco @fancyfreefinery @shopsweetlulu & @amazon 🤍✨ currently planning Ellie’s bday which is just around the corner! #birthdayparty #kidsbirthday
Puffy paint fun!!! 🎨 So simple & such a fun act Puffy paint fun!!! 🎨 So simple & such a fun activity for the girls - white glue, shaving cream, & food coloring! 🌈 Really though, I should be working on our tax return since the one month countdown is on! I always seem to wait until the last minute! Anyone else?! 🙈 This year, if you plan to put any of your refund into college savings, I’ve partnered with Ohio’s 529 to share the benefit of saving for college in a 529 account rather than a traditional savings account. That’s because all contributions and earnings grow tax-free in a 529 plan, meaning your money will go farther compared to savings in a traditional, low-interest savings account. SWIPE to see a cool graphic they put together to show the difference it can make over time!
